NOOMA

I just wanted to recommend to all out there the NOOMA videos by Rob Bell. We have been watching them in our Sunday morning Bible class. We use them for discussions and to bring a different point of view to various topics. They are viewed to be more for younger people, but the elder members in our class are really enjoying them as well. If you are looking for something for your Bible class that will spark more discussion.... this is the way to go! Just click on the link above to go to the website.

New beginnings...

There are new beginnings everywhere! Our Garden to-go is already sprouting... very exciting. We are also starting new beginnings with our lives. Embarking on a business venture that will provide us financial freedom. We are trying hard to look at things through a new light and change to only positive thinking.
My friend Heather and her husband Geoff will be adopting a new baby boy soon! They are adding a new life to their family. We are soooo excited for them and pray all goes well! It will go well. They are such wonderful parents to little Ella and the baby boy will be sooooo lucky to have them as parents.
According to the news... the past year was the U.S.'s biggest baby boom. All those new beginnings! I'm not suggesting going out and having a baby, but everyone can have a new beginning. Just grab hold and make the changes necessary.

To help us with ours... we are reading "Retire Young, Retire Rich" by Robert Kiyosaki and we watched the DVD "The Secret". We are looking forward to a more fulfilling life and a better mind-set.

Shake that tushie...

This morning Corbin located his Sesame Street MP3 Player. The boys began dancing to Elmo's hip hop version of BINGO. Cavan was really getting into it and even tried to spell BINGO . They are the best dancers. You should have seen them when Dancing with the Stars was on.... so much fun!

We hope to get them into a dance/gymnastics class sometime this next year.

Drama King!

Once upon a time there was a little boy named Corbin. He was quite the story teller. In very dramatic fashion, he proceeded to tell a story about a reindeer attacking a rabbit and then running away. Then there were three fish that were quacking like ducks.

That was the scene yesterday when Corbin brought me a book. He recreated the story. Yes, he has a severe speech delay, but he always finds a way to communicate. He has great facial expressions and sounds. He even acts things out and uses his sign language. It was sooo cute and funny!

I wish I could have gotten it on video, but you know as soon as you turn on the camera it all comes to a screeching stop. Oh well.

Here are the boys on their playscape.

STOP!

Corbin has become our human stop sign. Maybe he'll be a professional crossing guard when he grows up. When we cross the street to enter a store, he holds out his hand and tells cars to stop. He has even gone as far as to tell a lady to stop when she was coming out of an isle in the store. It's really cute (at least for now).
We also have to stop and go as he orders with the cart. Sometimes it can almost cause an accident in the store. If you see us..... steer clear!

Big Shoe, Little Shoe.....Oops!

Cavan seems to have a thing for shoes. Quite regularly you can find him trying on our shoes and walking around in them. This morning he got a hold of Corbin's sandals. He was able to get one on even though it was the wrong foot....Oops! Corbin was kind enough to correct the situation and get both shoes on his feet. As I stated that Cavan's feet were almost big enough for Corbin's sandals... Corbin quickly corrected me and let me know that Cavan's feet were small.

Give me a sign

Sign Language! What a life-saver (sanity-saver?)! Everywhere we go, people are shocked when our boys, especially Corbin, start signing to us. For those who do not know, Corbin has a severe speech delay. During the school year, he attends developmental preschool at the local elementary school. He receives speech therapy 3 days/week. There is some improvement, but it has been very frustrating for us all. But he is sooooo smart! He has learned several signs and he even develops signs to tell us what he wants. I ask him if he has a sign for what he wants and he usually comes up with something. Cavan uses some signs, but not like Corbin does.

I highly recommend sign language for all babies/kids/adults. There are lots of videos and books now for baby sign language.

Garden to go

This weekend we decided to put in a garden from scratch. We bought weed stopper, landscape timbers, soil, seeds, etc.... I thought Carl had plotted it all out and we were good to go. It became more of a dirty project than we both expected. In the end, we bought some pots and now just have a garden in pots. Tomatoes, Zucchini, Squash, Eggplant. I guess we'll see how it turns out. It's probably better we did it in pots.... we can take it with us when we buy a house.

We bought chicken wire to keep out the rabbits and other critters. We have toads that love to roam our yard and driveway. Too bad we don't have butterflies. Corbin loves butterflies. His Oma and Papa have lots of butterflies in their flower garden. I can't even keep flowers alive.

what's in a name?

Welcome to my blog!
It wasn't easy coming up with a name, especially one that is somewhat creative. My sister has a blog, the coloring book, but she is a creative person and it works for her. Looking around my desk I see lots of sticky notes.... that's more me. Not so creative. I like to make lists, post reminders, jot down little notes everywhere. My husband is a techie (geek) and I think it drives him crazy that I don't just put everything on a PDA. I guess I'm just strange that way. Of course the funny thing about that is, I have to put up a sticky note to remind my husband to grab his PDA on the way out the door. He has a blog: http://ubergeekaustx.blogspot.com/

Anyways... this blog will not be the most inspirational and poetic blog out there. It's just about the little the things going on in the life of a stay-at-home mom. Each post is like a Sticky Note.
